Often dolls start with a feeling, or an inspiration but this doll started with some fabric I saw in a charity shop.
There was something about the dark red, standing out from the lighter green that immediately made me think of Rowan berries.
By the end of the evening the kilt like skirt had been ironed, cut up and turned into her shawl and skirts.
She wears a Rowan berry necklace I made from local berries I collected last year, with a hagstone pendant.
One of the trees I collected berries from is half dead, or perhaps you might say they are half alive. I say they as the tree is both male and female as each flower on the tree has both male and female reproductive parts) are half dead, or partially alive. Dead or alive there is still much life on this old tree as they host a multitude of mushrooms.
Fairy Inkcap Mushroom
There is much folklore of Rowan, but I will let the doll lead the way. She needs to find her story and an approaching dark moon is the perfect time.
Love the colors and the doll.
wonderful!!!!
