I would love this little figure and bag. I have visited Orkney once in 2019 and would love to return however finances don't permit unfortunately. I loved Skara Brae and was captivated by
this place by the windy sea....thank you Jude for this opportunity
This is fantastic! I find the Buddo fascinating. I'm also curious about the apparant house or shelter from your pictures- how old it is and anything about the folk who lived there and their ways, did you get a sense of them while there?
Skara Brae dates to around 3180 BCE. When people lived in the settlement it’s thought they lived near freshwater loch, and the sea was behind a natural cliff. I’ve looked at photos of this place for decades and read what I can. I believe there’s a twilight tour where you can go down and walk through some of the houses. Just to spend a lot of time in the area was wonderful, we can back and spent out last day on the beach. The visitor centre has loads of info and a replica house - so you do get a good sense of the place, and the people. The feeling of the place and the houses will always stay with me.
I liked the white lady the best I enjoy all of your posts about the land and its history. There is a lot I would like to leave behind. I would like to leave behind the intense conflicts around the world Ukraine and Gaza. Most of all I would like to leave behind the consciousness of separation and leave room for understanding we all belong to the network of life . We are all connected part of the whole
Hello: I would love to be included in the giveaway. If I win the draw. I would happily pay the shipping to the US. Best wishes on your surgery and hope you are back on your feet soon.
I've always been fascinated by neolithic images: something that seems so simple and crude carries much meaning. Good luck with your surgery!
I just love how they speak to us through the thousands of years since their creation!
